F45 HQ: Hi Heather! Thanks for taking the time to speak with us to share your story! I’d love to start by introducing yourself to anyone who may be reading this and unfamiliar with who you are and what you do!
Heather: My pleasure! I am the Director of Corporate Wellness Sales for F45 Training. I help companies place F45 studios on their corporate campuses, allowing employees to workout in a team focused environment.
I’ve been with F45 for almost 1.5 years now and can truly say I enjoy what I do everyday! I feel lucky to have the ability to help employees get fit and in return, help employers with Healthcare tax deductions, increase employee morale, decrease stress — and let’s be honest, we know everyone could use less stress in their workplace!
A fun fact about myself, I competed in Fitness for 3 years straight and received my Pro card to compete at a national level! That’s actually one of the reasons why I love what I do so much, I truly have a passion for it!
F45 HQ: Wow that’s so awesome you used to compete! How did you get started within the corporate wellness sector of the fitness industry? What inspired you to be a part of this type of movement?
Heather: It all started when I became addicted to fitness about a decade ago. I found myself severely overweight, traveling the world and pretty much married to my job. I realized I needed to make a change and decided I wanted to get in the best shape of my life. That’s when I joined a competitive gym and started competing in fitness competitions.
Overtime, I realized that I wanted to help others change their lives through fitness, just as it changed my life. I made the decision to end a 15 year career in Higher Education and transitioned into working in the fitness industry, selling fitness memberships to organizations.
I originally looked into F45 as an investment because I wanted to open my own studio. It was during my initial conversations that I realized that F45 had an amazing idea to help companies place studios inside their workplace and it just so happened that they needed a Director to start up the corporate wellness division. I felt compelled to join this company and network!
Here I am almost two years later and we are now placing studios globally within corporate campuses. I liked that they had a strong track record in Australia (and other parts of the world) and I feel honored to have been a big part of putting our footprint in the US Market and spreading brand awareness.
F45 HQ: What is your favorite part about working with companies to help develop their corporate wellness program? Is there one thing in particular that is your favorite part of the process?
Heather: I really enjoy working with companies to set up their corporate wellness programs. It’s exciting to see the demand from the staff and fulfill those needs in partnership with their leadership teams. For example, when surveys are sent to employees, 9 times out of 10 those employees say they would work out more if they had access to an onsite gym; and I can help give that to them! It’s exciting to hear that this is something they are longing for and encouraging that we are in demand.
F45 HQ: What is one thing that, in your opinion, F45 Training is doing that differentiates itself from other corporate wellness programs in the world?
Heather: I’d say what makes our program different from just placing a no name gym or brand inside of a company is that we have a group training program that is truly focused on bringing staff together. I like to describe it as similar to a group happy hour, but focused on fitness and general wellness. It really creates a community of well being within an organization.
F45 HQ: What is your vision for the Corporate Wellness Division at F45? Where do you see the company & the department going in the next few years?
Heather: Right now we are in the process of focusing on our growth within the United States and beyond. My vision and goal is to place an F45 corporate studio in almost every state in the U.S. and I cannot wait to see that dream come true!
F45 HQ: What’s one thing you’ve done during your time here at F45 that you are particularly proud of? Have you seen this impact the business in a positive way?
Heather:As odd as it sounds, the pandemic! When coronavirus hit the U.S., almost all companies shut down overnight. It became apparent to me that this division would have to shut down as well if we didn’t find a way to serve corporations and their staff in a pivotal way.
Almost overnight, we created a corporate at-home and live-training wellness program to offer our corporate partners. Companies were able to get their team on a zoom call and have one of our head trainers lead them through an F45 workout using absolutely no equipment, only body weight.
Companies loved the idea to help reconnect to their employees that have been dispersed across the US/Globe overnight. While employees were working from home they had a way to reconnect with their teams and do an F45 at home live workout. Our technology allowed us to pivot our program overnight and help hundreds of companies during the pandemic.
