Ahh, Sunday. A day that has traditionally been spent hanging out with friends or family, making plans for the week, or getting the house in order before the workweek.
For some, Sunday is a great day of the week because it gives them an extra day of rest and relaxation. For others, however, Sunday (especially Sunday evenings) marks the end of their ‘freedom’ and the beginning of another daunting and dreaded workweek.
We call these the “Sunday Scaries,” and in this post, we will walk you through how to get rid of Sunday Scaries for good. Although plenty of people feel this way week after week, we at F45 Training firmly believe you don’t have to settle for that feeling. Here are three ways to get rid of your ‘Sunday Scaries’ once and for all!
1. Spice up your Monday!
If you are constantly dreading Monday because you know it’s going to be the most chaotic day of the week, try changing things up a bit! If you leave a great deal of things until the last minute on Fridays, the chances of you putting those tasks off until Monday are probably quite high. Each Monday, try to ensure that you have a fun day at work, with tasks that you will enjoy doing! Another way to switch up your Monday is to plan something fun either during the work day (like Zoom or in-person lunches with coworkers) or after you log off (we hear workout classes are a big hit!). This will allow you to look forward to something at the end of a long day and hopefully will lift your spirits a bit as you look towards your workweek.
2. Try to remember that you are in control of your psyche.
Sure, this may seem easier said than done, but we feel like positive affirmations and attitudes can really change the way people see even the most chaotic situations. Try shifting your mindset from ‘I have to go to work tomorrow’ to ‘I get to have the opportunity to wake up and go to work and make money to provide for my family and/or myself.” This simple mindset shift can make all the difference when you are thinking about the week ahead.
3. Repeat after us: you don’t have to settle for a job that gives you anxiety or makes you feel anything less than amazing.
If you are truly miserable heading into the workweek each and every week, there may be a bigger issue at play here. It may be time for you to explore other avenues of income and opportunities that are out there for you. Perhaps you want to get into a whole new industry, one that you feel more passion for and that will bring joy to your life and workdays. Or perhaps you want to simply move up in the work world and become your own boss. No matter what you want to do and what dreams you have for yourself, you have to recognize when the right time to move on presents itself. Yes, this will be a scary transition and may seem more daunting than heading into your dead-end job on a Monday morning, but trust us when we say that taking this next step towards your dream life is worth it in the end.
At the end of the day, life is too short to hate your job and to just ‘deal’ with the feelings of anxiousness and dread on a Sunday afternoon. We want you to have a job that allows you to enjoy a Sunday afternoon filled with laughter, trips to the grocery store, or brunch with the family, rather than feeling a sense of dread towards the workweek.
We’re here to help guide you towards a future that you will be proud of. Together, we can form a new career for you that will bring you a sense of fulfillment and joy. With F45 Training, gone are the days of the Sunday Scaries. Let’s chat about your next move. Reach out to us today!
