TEAM TRAINING. LIFE
CHANGING.

One of the most challenging things in life is feeling yourself slipping into a rut and simultaneously not being able to do much about it. You may feel like you need to change your habits or routine in order to negate the change you feel happening right before your eyes.

In the workplace, a productivity rut can be detrimental to the overall success and longevity of your business. If you or your employees are feeling particularly stuck when it comes to being productive at the office, you can lose precious time, money, and resources that otherwise help you get one step closer to your goals.

We have come up with a few tips on how you can get yourself, or your employees, out of a productivity rut and back in action as the powerhouse team you know you can be.

1. Recognize that whatever process you have been doing has inevitably led you up to this rut, and that may have to change, at least for the time being. Switching up your daily routines, no matter how big or small, can keep you on your toes, engage your brain in new ways, and potentially get your creative juices flowing.

2. Consider what type of environment you are cultivating in the office, and remove or change anything negatively impacting your productivity. Is your desk cluttered with paperwork? Are your employees feeling down and need a morale boost? Consider bringing some light to the environment, whether it’s by an office refresh or simply buying your staff coffee or lunch to show them how much you appreciate them.

3. Write down your goals and re-evaluate your priorities. As a boss, business owner, or employee, sometimes we get lost in the mundane day-to-day work tasks that we are faced with. It can be incredibly beneficial to take a step back and make sure that you are working towards your goals. If you find yourself getting sidetracked by things that are essentially just workplace ‘noises,’ try to find ways to reincorporate your priorities back into your day. This should help you get back on track, sure, but also help you feel like you are being more productive each day towards your short and long-term goals.

4. Give yourself, and your teammates, grace. Everyone—and we mean everyone—gets into a rut sometimes. It’s completely normal and totally warranted, especially if you feel you have been giving it your all at the workplace. Try taking a step back and taking a deep breath. Remember that you are doing your best and working hard to give yourself (and your family) a life that they will love.

5. On that note, if you are no longer being productive because you don't love what you are doing, remember that there is time to shift your career goals. It’s never too late to go after what you want in life. Perhaps you are feeling the lull because it’s your brain's way of telling you that it’s time to move onto bigger and better things! Is it simply a productivity rut or is it an opportunity for you to explore new avenues of business?
