Let’s face it—working from home is hard. It can be challenging for those who are used to going into an office every day. Making the shift from commuting to an office to your kitchen table or a subpar makeshift workspace can be uncomfortable and even unmotivating for some. You may even have some new coworkers in the form of children or a spouse that you haven’t quite spent this much time with in a while. Yep, we get it; we’ve been there and we are right there with you! That’s why we came up with four tips that we think will help you during this time to ensure you stay productive during your workdays.
1. Get started early.
We recommend getting up a little earlier and making time for yourself. Whether that’s with a cup of coffee, a healthy breakfast, a walk around the neighborhood or mindful meditation; make time for you! We encourage you to find something that will allow you to set the tone for the day and give you the peace of mind and clarity you need to tackle the day. Some members of our team take an hour out of their mornings to meditate and give themselves time to find clarity in the chaos. Sure, it may be challenging to meditate and try to forget what the current world is facing, but trust us—it helps.
2. Pretend like you are going into the office.
This may seem odd for some, but there is something to be said about the mindset you have when going into the office. We recommend that after you make some time for yourself in the morning, you proceed with your day as though you were going into the office. Getting dressed as though you are going to the office (or maybe slightly less dressed up if you usually wear suits or slacks!) can help you feel as though you are actually in a work environment. We also recommend setting up a workspace that will make you feel as though you can be productive in your current situation.
3. Use technology to stay connected.
This may be easier in 2020 than it has been in the past, but we still want to empower you to use technology to your advantage at this time. We recommend video-chatting with your friends, coworkers, and family so you can stay social while keeping your distance. Just remember, when you are video chatting with people, they can see you! Use at your discretion. Another way you can use technology is to order fresh fruits and vegetables with local grocery delivery services! 2020 may have a lot of downsides to it, but one upside is having the technology available that will allow us to order groceries and stay in touch with our loved ones.
4. Stay active.
Of course, this last point is near and dear to our hearts, as it is the foundation of the F45 family. Staying active can help you clear your minds, release anxiety or stress and allow you to stay healthy. Your health matters now more than ever, and we are here to help you achieve your goals without a gym. We are proud to announce that our F45 Challenge app and website now offer F45 At-Home Workouts, healthy recipes and a sense of community during this isolating time. Our members are able to take classes that will cater to their physical needs with an F45 twist! We are so proud of this new platform and we hope that it will empower people to continue to take their health into their own hands. If you don’t have access to that quite yet, we encourage you to get outside and exercise! Take a walk and enjoy the outdoors, while keeping 6 feet away from other people. Trust us, you won’t regret a completed workout, but you may regret one that you haven’t done.
Working at home is challenging and it is not ideal for the vast majority of people. Do you want to be stuck at home all day every day while fumbling around in the kitchen while trying to work a Zoom meeting? Doubt it. But, that is the current situation that the country is in right now, and although it isn’t ideal, it is what it is. We hope that you utilize this time to grow closer with your loved ones (yes, it is hard, but you can do it!) and to challenge yourself to make the best of this situation.
This could be a life changing opportunity.
