“Sorry, I can’t—I just have too much to do.”
“I really don’t have time for this. I have a job already.”
Sound familiar?
Many people in the corporate world find it a symbol of success to be busy. It is as though the busier you are, the more powerful you are (or will become one day). While this can be true for some people, it is often used as a scapegoat, and quite honestly, an excuse.
Think about it—when was the last time you used being busy as an excuse for something you either didn’t want to do or were afraid of doing? Here’s the honest truth: you are not too busy to follow your dreams and make them a reality if you want to.
Some people in the corporate world are fulfilled with their 9-to-5 jobs. They may be content with their current role and are looking to continue climbing their way up the corporate ladder to reach their professional goals.
Others may have a desire to do something more and be something more. They may want to have a job that they truly love, that makes a difference in the world, or is more aligned with their passions and interests. But when it comes down to actually up and leaving their current role and following their dreams, they are stuck—paralyzed by the fear of failure.
Here are a few tips from our team at F45 Training to get you out of your comfort zone and break free from the idea that you are too busy for your dreams:
Find something that you are passionate about and would like to pursue long-term.
For some, this may be an easy thing to reflect upon; for others, it may be harder to truly discover what interests you. If there’s something that you love to do and want to turn into your career, use that energy and drive to find your next opportunity. For our potential franchise owners, we recommend that you tap into your passion for the fitness industry to capitalize on the career opportunity ahead of you. What do you want to do long-term? What would make you happiest? Once you have your answer, you have your foundation for making your dream come true.
Now that you know what you want to do and what your dream is, let’s talk logistics. First and foremost, you can find the time to pursue your dreams, and you don’t always have to quit your day job right away! If you are interested in learning more about a particular industry, project or opportunity, you have the power to do so after work. What you do after a day’s work will actually set yourself up for success in the long run. Do you sit at home and watch Netflix instead of researching tools needed to make your dreams a reality? Do you find the time to tap into your passions and turn them into your next projects, or are you stuck in the same cycle of going to work, watching TV while you eat your dinner, and going to bed?
If you want to experience change, you have to ignite it.
Look inwards at your daily routine. What can you change today that will help you in the future? You really aren’t too busy to have that 15-20 minute conversation or spend 20 minutes researching opportunities.
If you are interested in taking the leap of faith to explore the opportunities at hand, now is your chance to find the time to make it happen. There will never be a perfect time to quit your job and start a new career path, but if you want to make it happen, you will. However, it is imperative that when considering quitting your day job, make sure that you are getting into business with people who have your best interests at heart. For example, our team at F45 Training spends a considerable amount of time with each of our potential franchise owners to carefully discuss their goals, current situation, and determine if they are a good fit for F45.
While this extensive research may seem impossible because it’s so time-consuming, we encourage you to look at it from a different point of view—before you take what could be considered the most exciting step of your professional life, you should find the right company that will help you during this life-changing transition. Although it may take a little extra time to find the right fit for you, you deserve to have a support system on your side as you pursue your passion!
There’s no doubt that life can get chaotic, leaving you with less free time than you once had. But when it comes down to excuses not to do something, time should not be one of them. On the surface, it may seem that you don’t have time for anything outside of your day job, but when you dig deep down and reflect inwards, you will realize that you have a lot more time than you think.
Shift your priorities from mindless activities that are sucking your time to focus on the things that you need to get done and will prepare you for long-term success. When you set aside a few hours a day, week, or month, you may be amazed at what you can accomplish. You do have time for your dreams, and F45 is here to help you achieve them.
